Abstract | In a society with widespread automated driving, it is necessary to focus not only on safety but also on ride comfort. Therefore, a two-wheeled vehicle model that views the vehicle from the side is necessary to consider ride comfort. In the past, this laboratory has proposed a method to accurately represent vehicle behavior by considering the pitching motion of the vehicle in the plane of the vehicle viewed from the side. In this study, we verify whether our proposed vehicle model can be used for RoboCar and show its effectiveness. By doing so, we will obtain not only safety but also comfort by considering pitching motion. |

Abstract | This article proposes a novel individual-phase reactive current control strategy with a suppressed neutral-line current for an active power-line conditioner in three-phase four-wire distribution feeders. The reference source currents are calculated using the fundamental active component of the load currents, which is calculated by a constant DC-capacitor voltage control block. When the individual-phase reactive power control is achieved with the calculated fundamental active component, the source-side currents are sinusoidal but unbalanced because the active components of the source currents are balanced. This results in a large amount of the neutral-line current. A reduced-scale laboratory model is developed and tested to demonstrate the validity and high practicability of the proposed individual-phase reactive current control strategy. |

Abstract | Nowadays,IEEE 802.11n/ac wireless local-area networks (WLANs) have been widely used for the Internet access services around the world. To improve the performances, we are studying the use of dual network interfaces for the Raspberry Pi access-point with the external network interface card (NIC) of 11n at 2.4GHz and 11ac at 5GHz protocols. The total throughput performance can be different by the protocol selections of the embedded NIC and the external one. In this paper, we investigate performances through experiments using Raspberry Pi 4B and Archer T4u when the assigned protocols are swapped among them. The results show that the use of Raspberry Pi for 11n at 2.4GHz and the external for 11ac at 5GHz provides the higher throughput. |

Abstract | Statcast is a tool to explore player movements and athletic abilities in Major League Baseball. The baseball data provided by the statcast have been opened in the baseball savant. This paper focuses on the classification of pitch type associated with each tracked pitch. We adopt landmark-based representation to express a pitch trajectory and incorporate a shape distance into the similarity of a clustering method so that it can be effective for classifying pitch trajectories. From the experimental results on pitch data, we demonstrate that our clustering method effectively classifies trajectories in pitch type. |

Abstract | This article deals with the voltage-rise suppression by the bidirectional battery charger (BBC) for electric vehicles (EVs) in single-phase three-wire distribution feeders, where the constant DC-capacitor voltage-control-based reactive power control strategy is used in the control circuit of the BBC. In this article, the connection points of the BBC and the quantity of the injected reactive power in SPTWDFs are discussed to sufficiently suppress the voltage rise caused by the PVPCSs. Simulation results demonstrate that the voltage rise is efficiently suppressed by the BBC at the selected connection points with the decided quantity of the reactive power. |

Abstract | Path following is a basic function for an autonomous robot. In this paper we propose an end-to-end learning method of path following for a wheelchair robot which is mounted with a spherical camera assuming moving in indoor environment. First, a dataset is collected by taking spherical images of corridor with a spherical camera and recording the linear velocity and angular velocity of wheelchair robot at the same time. Then, a neural network is learned from the training set, and the wheelchair robot is driven based on the prediction from the neural network by using the ROS (Robot Operating System). Finally, we test the proposed method and evaluate the performance by counting the times of human intervention during a test course. |
